The German pharmaceutical and chemicals company Merck KGaA is teaming up with a London-based startup called V7 to create software that scientists can use to tag images for future use in training artificial intelligence software. 

Merck and V7 believe that improving the speed and accuracy of labels is a key step for AI in science. Merck also sees potential uses for the software in its health and chemical businesses.
